Subject: Shells arrive!

HI there and thanks so much for the shells for Nicholas, Mom! Every week he

inquires about packages from Grandmommy, saying that he's sure there's one

for him coming. Well, this week he was rewarded with his patience and faith

- the shells, books etc. arrived on Thursday afternoon, and I've never seen

him so happy about a present!

It was something to see him ooh and aah over each shell, especially the ones

from the day you sent them from the Dux beach. We didn't have much time to

go thru them, but he was quick to identify some in the shell book, and ran

to get soem of ours to see if we could find what they are. He also found a

cardboard box that he will use for his shell collection, and everyhting is

in there.

We had just come back from the lake where there are some fresh water

shells, and I had picked a few up. We'll have to find them as well! So,

thanks again, and his quote of the day was, in a soft, hushed voice, Wow,

Grandmommy is so nice for sending these!" I passed on the shell bracelet and

the Nature Conservancy magazine to maria - she really likes the bracelet,

and sends her thanks as well!

The children have been on break this week, and we went to the lake for three

days. It was very nice weather, and it is getting hotter every day! I

visited a Volunteer couple yesterday and their thermometer said it was 100!

On Thursday night we went to a fundraiser for "Camp Sky", a camp for

promising secondary students that is run by PCVs. The fundraiser consisted

of dinner and dessert made by PCVs, led by one who has some cooking talents.

Last year I got pretty sick afterwards, and because I make so many

suggestions, I try to pick my areas and I decided not to say anything about

my reservations about this thing...well, this year there must be 30+ sick

people from food poisoning! The Ambassador's wife was there and I'm sure

she got sick too if she ate the appetizers. Mike and I narrowed down the

list of offending foods and she didn't eat any of the appetizers, while I

did. Others who didn't get sick also didn't eat them. UGH!

So you two are off to Geneva soon I hear? We hope you have a wonderful time!

I sent Mare and Joan some pictures of tablecloths we have asked them to find

some matching ones for them, which you could send on from the US. That OK?

Well - The Sox are doing great, although I can't find it in myself to get up

at 4 am to watch them on the computer...Love Brian
